“The buck stops here for running the registry,” Attorney General Steve Bullock confesses. Bullock is legally responsible for notifying local law enforcement when a convicted sex offender fails to update their address with the Sexual and Violent Offender Registry.

But Bullock has failed to track Montana sex offenders. As a result, a state audit of Bullock's office finds a dangerous 26% of convicted offenders are not currently listed in the state's registry.

Bullock admits his failure means no one knows where one in four convicted Montana sex offenders is lurking. Several have already been arrested after threatening children they were able to move in next to after Bullock's failure.
